Eighteen holes, two lakes, one Fazio.
A Fazio championship layout in the Pocono Mountains — 6,556 yards from the tips, par 71, with views of Lake Wallenpaupack from the 6th and 16th and Lake Tanglwood behind the 18th green.

A Fazio in the Poconos.
Founded in 1966 by fourteen weekenders who hired George and Tom Fazio to route the course. The front nine opened in 1971, the back nine in 1974. The course went quiet in the fall of 2023 and came back under Greg Johnson — first full season 2025.

"A Tom Fazio design delivers an outstanding experience to all levels of golfers — from the raw beginner to the most skilled player."
— from the architect's design brief
The course occupies 137 acres of rolling terrain on the south side of Lake Wallenpaupack — the largest lake in Pennsylvania. The Fazios used the natural elevation: elevated tee boxes, tree-lined fairways, and water carries on the holes that drop into the valley.
After going dark in fall 2023, the property was taken on by Greg Johnson the following spring and roughly seventy-five neighbors who put their names down before the first mower turned over. The first full season ran in 2025 and delivered more than fifteen thousand rounds — greens reseeded, fairways back in shape, bunkers still getting the attention they'd been missing.
Fourteen local weekenders hire George and Tom Fazio to route a course of their own.
The first nine opens for play on the south side of Lake Wallenpaupack.
The back nine is completed and Paupack Hills becomes a full eighteen.
The course goes dark in the fall. Previous ownership walks away.
Greg Johnson takes on the 137-acre property; seventy-five neighbors back the effort.
First full season back. Fifteen thousand rounds despite a delayed-by-rain May open.
Three holes on the water.
The 6th and 16th look out over Lake Wallenpaupack — the largest lake in the state and the reason most people remember the round. The 18th green sits on the edge of Lake Tanglwood, finishing the day with one more piece of water in play.

The dogleg that begs you to cut.
An unencumbered view across Lake Wallenpaupack from the tee — the first of two on the course. Gamblers may try to cut the corner! The safe drive should be aimed at the far-left fairway bunker. Miss this green left and you are sure to make a bogey.

The most-photographed tee box.
A short par 3 from an elevated tee. The view is the reason; the breeze across the lake is the cost of admission. The first of the back-to-back par 3s. Plays 20 yards shorter than the yardage; however, be cautious of the wind. In this shallow green, it is difficult to read the subtle breaks.

A closing hole with a choice.
The 18th green sits on the edge of Lake Tanglwood — the closing image of the round. Risk/reward — carrying the spillway will leave a short approach to a tightly guarded green. The safe drive is the left center and will leave a 160-yard shot to the center. Avoid the left greenside bunker.
The holes along Lake Wallenpaupack and Lake Tanglwood still play like the views were the whole point.
